The House of Sanghmitra

Where the loom remembers every hand that touched it.

Born in Bhopal in 2007, Sanghmitra began as a quiet conversation between a woman who loved fabric and the weavers of Madhya Pradesh who made it. Two decades on, we remain a retailer and fabric house devoted to the same belief — that a garment should carry the warmth of the hands that wove it.

From Maheshwari cotton-silk to Banarasi zari, every piece is sourced from handloom clusters, finished as ready-to-wear or offered by the metre to those who prefer to dream their own drape.

The Craft

From yarn to drape, untouched by haste.

Four slow steps stand between a spool of thread and the cloth that becomes yours.

01

Sourcing the Yarn

Mulberry silk, Chanderi cotton and wild tussar gathered directly from the spinners.

02

Natural Dyeing

Marigold, madder and indigo vats — colours coaxed from root, flower and earth.

03

On the Handloom

Pit looms and jacquard frames where pattern and patience are thrown shuttle by shuttle.

04

Finishing & Blessing

Pressed, inspected and wrapped in mulmul — finished in our Bhopal atelier.

“A handloom saree is not bought, it is inherited — even if you are the first to wear it.”
— The Sanghmitra Philosophy
